About
Jamie Cullum calls British saxophonist Emma Rawicz "an astonishing talent," Jazzwise Magazine calls her "a force to be reckoned with," and the BBC states: "the name Emma Rawicz is on everyone's lips right now." The 21-year-old is the latest discovery on London's vibrant jazz scene, which has been causing a worldwide stir for years. And despite her young age, she has already achieved an enormous amount: winner of the Parliamentary Jazz Awards, finalist at the Jazz FM Awards and the BBC Young Jazz Musician Competition, concerts at and in all the renowned British festivals and clubs, multiple headliner at London institutions such as the Jazz Café and Ronnie Scott's and appearances and numerous international festivals.
Emma Rawicz’s ACT debut "Chroma" features a prominent quintet with pianist Ivo Neame, bassist Connor Chaplin, guitarist Ant Law and drummer Asaf Sirkis - all of whom are established figures on the UK scene. You can hear the energy and inner urge of Emma Rawicz personality in the music: Groove-driven, clear, striking, sometimes with associations to UK jazz heroes like Django Bates, Bill Bruford Tim Garland, sometimes with psychedelic-spherical elements that evoke memories of British art rock, then again warm, intimate and with a haunting tone. "Chroma," Greek for "colour," shows the full spectrum of an artist who has long outgrown newcomer status. Again Jazzwise Magazine, "Emma Rawicz is ALREADY the real deal!"

Chroma's coherence owes much to Rawicz the composer and arranger, skills that may yet transcend her evident sax ability. Savour those tones!
