Temirkanov keeps a firm hold on the structural tiller, ensuring that Tchaikovsky’s unique brand of balletic symphonism is immaculately choreographed...an imposingly fearless account of the First Piano Concerto from Denis Matsuev...will have pianophiles sitting slack-jawed in amazement ... the couplings are excellent too.
