It Was Spring was composed during the spring and summer of 1993. It is difficult to describe all of the thoughts, dreams and impulses that come together to shape a musical composition. It was undoubtedly influenced by my liking for spectral and ambient explorations. It was spring is perhaps best described as being expressive of time and waiting; attack and resonance with tension and release - a springing to life! – and navigating the acoustical (harmonic) relationships and spaces born from the bringing into existence a sonic motif - its ‘own’ nature. Its four tableau-like sections suggest ‘to motion’, ‘to renewal’, or ‘to continuing.’ It was composed in memoriam for my dear Uncle Terry Dennehy (1936-93.  Terry was such a gentle generous soul.
