My Brass Quintet was composed in spring of 1984 and first performed in the summer of that year at the Royal Academy of Music. The first trumpet part may be played on either Trumpet in B flat, Trumpet in C or Trumpet in D. Parts for all three instruments are included as alternatives and the performer may also change instruments between movements.
