Hidden Corners is an ongoing series of ‘line-drawing’ pieces in which the outlines of images are transformed by the performer into glissandi, sliding through the different registers of strings. The characters of the images emerge from the various shapes which the sound mark out, their identities defined through the ways changes of register, speed and dynamics converge. I’m fascinated in the way that qualities, which bring sounds to life (such as contour, movement and weight), also define our physical involvement in the world. The following pieces are an attempt to focus on these essential attributes, which draw together the various threads of our experiences.
