This lovely piece of music was commissioned by Malcolm Bidgood OBE (former Music Advisor to the London Borough of Redbridge, 1965–1888) in memory of his wife Daphne. Roderick, like many others who knew her, knew her love of music, particularly the cello.

Daphne became Head Teacher at Ray Lodge School, where children had music lessons in The Orange Room – a warm colour that she loved. The first section of the piece reflects her especially kind and loving personality, and the second part her wonderfully feisty and energetic spirit.
