About
Robert Maggio’s REMEMBERING MATTHEW SHEPARD conveys the overwhelming grief of tragedy in a work of poignant simplicity and thoughtfulness for flute choir. Originally composed as incidental music for the play The Laramie Project, this six-movement suite traces the events of the days immediately following Matthew Shepard’s murder in Laramie, Wyoming in 1998. The movements are “journal entries,” “finding Matthew Shepard,” “medical update,” “the Word and the jury,” “candle vigil and the fence,” and “the day of the funeral, snow.”
