Advanced. The idea for this piece came after walking through the practice building at the University. In one room, I could hear my friends practicing low brass excerpts in another room, I heard a friend practicing timpani. I set out to synthesize musical gestures characteristic of each of those sound worlds: low brass parts that sound like they're a part of a larger whole, and rhythmic punctuation from timpani.
