Advanced. 1 - A 12 tone sequence. Augmented from a slow exposition developing into a faster and more rhythmic style including tango riffs. A slow section followed by jazz inflected ideas with final rapid statements in all parts in different keys of the tone row. 2 - A stately Chaconne in an Elizabethan style but with harmony that reflects now. 3- A very fast and rhythmic opening which sets a pattern for the movement. Tongue stop techniques in the middle of the movement give the effect of music in reverse! The final section tests all players technically to a rapid finale. Philip Nell
