This 4-movement work was composed during the first lockdown, the opening and closing movements reflecting the tensions and uncertainty of the times. The two middle movements are generally serene and lyrical, the third only using "white" notes and in the style of a Gymnopedie. The final movement is rhythmically complex, often in 11/8 time.
