It is, in fact, an arrangement of a piece for solo recorder, written nearly 2 decades ago as a spring birthday gift for distinguished recorderist John Turner, hence the dedication.
The remaining instrumentation, namely pitched percussion, can be varied to match resources available, so long as all the pitches can be reached and, of course, played at tempo.
