This Intermezzo is an arrangement of the central section of my Bassoon Concert (That Blessed Wood) premiered in April 2011 by David Hubbard with Camerata Scotland conducted by Tecwyn Evans. The two-part writing for the bassoon is notated so as to indicate the essential voicing in certain passages, and there are a number of bars bracketed with the indication "alternate fingering" (a.f.) where the player should find different colours. The Intermezzo is dedicated to David Hubbard whose remarkable and inspirational playing enthused my interest in his wonderful instrument.
