Commissioned by cheese and spirit makers Charles Martell and Sons, these three movements depict three pastoral scenes, implied by the poetic fragments attached to each movement. The Prelude is a typically pastoral evocation of a babbling brook, whilst the Air and Dance owe much to the experience of playing folk music.

Three Idylls was recorded by Catriona Price (Violin) and Olivia Jageurs (Harp) in 2012.
