Written for Chroma, the childlike and sometimes farcical character of this piece was partly inspired by the old parlour game of casting warped (and no doubt grotesque) silhouettes using a large sheet and a candle.

Shadow Play was first performed by Chroma in the David Josefovitz Recital Hall at the Royal Academy of Music, November 2011.
