Transfiguration was conceived during the 1997 KlangArt Congress and Festival in Osnabruck, Germany, and written with two things in mind: the Balkan wars and the social upheavals that were going on in former Yugoslavia in the 1990s and the personal grief regarding such a circumstance. Feelings of anger and incredulity continued to concern me strongly in connection with the cruel Kosovo war events a few years later. How can such atrocities still happen? How is it possible that we still cannot prevent to tame the ferocious beast that is hiding in us? The music of Transfiguration was inspired by the virtuosity of Vinko Globokar.
