First performed February 6, 2010 by Mark Menzies at the Wild Beast, CalArts, Valencia California.

Fore was commissioned by the Montecito Music Festival and dedicated to violinist Ivry Gitlis. The requirement was to compose a work referencing a favorite composition by Mr. Gitlis, the Adagio movement from the Violin Concerto No. 2 in E by Johann Sebastian Bach. Fore is distinguished from its subsequently composed companion, Four, by the use of graphic notation.
