About

This piece refers to the homonymous still life painting by Paul Klee (1926). What I find very interesting in this work by Klee is the resistance between different levels of dynamism that he carefully designs associating geometric shapes, patterns and enigmatic symbols to a formal context of apparent stillness. As Klee reminds us: 'The object grows beyond its appearance through our knowledge of its inner being, through the knowledge that the thing is more than its outward aspect suggests'. I tried to conceptualise this idea by constructing delicate patterns in the guitar that constantly re-articulate the more hieratic materials of the ensemble.
