About
The lullaby flourished as a musical form during the twentieth century. Pawe? ?ukaszewski’s Lullaby is characterised by a vocal-style leading of the melodic line, beautiful, lyrical phrasing and atmospheric chords in the harp. The composer subtly unfurls a musical tale to which he invites a wide range of listeners. The work’s limpid, legible texture is a characteristic attribute of Pawe? ?ukaszewski’s chamber music. Lullaby imposes on the performers a Romantic way of creating the sound in all its aspects. The composer masterfully shows how beautifully the flute and the harp can sound together, offering the performers a range of sonorities. I first performed Lullaby, written with me in mind, with the brilliant harpist Carlos Pena Montoyaduring recording for our disc Modern Lullabies.
