Celebration was commissioned in 2004 for the Maryland Classic Youth Philharmonic, to celebrate the opening of the Music and Arts Education Center at Strathmore, in Rockville, MD. A bright and cheery, vividly energetic piece suitable for youth orchestra, it was premiered by the Maryland Classic Youth Philharmonic at the Center on March 12, 2005, conducted by MCYP´s artistic director Olivia Gutoff.
