The Second Saxophone Quartet was commissioned by the London Saxophone Quartet for their tenth anniversary concert at St. John's Smith Square in London on November 10th 1979. Slightly more dissonant in style than the First Saxophone Quartet, Dr. Jacob, invariably modest about his achievements, considered this to be one of his best works.
