The title of the work says it all. The composition contains all the musical and vocal elements that determine choral singing or working with a choir, such as intonation, smoothness, declamation, fugato, cantilena etc. These elements are satirized in a humorous way, which is not only evident musically, i.e. harmonically, melodically and in terms of compositional technique, but is also expressed through the "stage directions". These represent the singers' reactions to the respective performance and are an essential part of the composition. The jury praised the choreographic realization of text and music when awarding the special prize for "The Choir Rehearsal" in the 1999 Composition Competition for Contemporary Choral Music of the Sängerbund NRW.
