This piece may be played on either stringed or wind instruments. It is better if the ensemble is homogenous in its make-up (3 violins; 3 flutes; 3 clarinets; etc.), but combinations of different instruments are quite possible (violin, viola, cello; flute, trumpet con sord., cor anglais; oboe, trumpet con sord., clarinet; etc.). Conventional bowings have been marked, and may be altered by the performers.
