The Beastie Stomp is the result of the composer's desire to write a piece in a "spooky" mood for young players. The piece combines a few of the musical clichés associated with goblins, ghosts and magic spells: the interval of the augmented fourth, a manic bass line inspired by the old "Batman" TV series; and spoken words in which the performers are asked to create their most imaginative howls, groans and screeches.
