Viola

Slightly lower in pitch than the Violin, the Viola also belongs to the string family of instruments. Famous viola players include Daniel Hope, Carl Stamitz, Lionel Tertis, William Primrose, Nobuko Imai, Yuri Bashmet, and Lawrence Power. Notable viola compositions include works from Béla Bartók, György Ligeti, Dmitri Shostakovich, Benjamin Britten, William Walton, Robert Schumann, and Georg Philipp Telemann.
