A much-respected figure and session musician in Los Angeles’ jazz scene, bassist Sam Wilkes collaborated with drummers Christian Euman and Greg Paul plus synth players Jacob Mann and Chris Fishman in mid-2020. Emerging from improvisations on a simple musical figure, ‘One Theme & Subsequent Improvisation’ is a diverse sprawl taking in Sun Ra Afrofuturism and post-rock atmospherics.
