About
Melbourne trio Brown Spirits draw on krautrock repetition, deep funk grooves and free-jazz improvisation to create their dense, driving psychedelic sound. Working entirely DIY, the band record and mix their music at home to ¼-inch analogue tape, preserving the grit and spontaneity of their performances.
Brown Spirits #3, released by Soul Jazz Records, brings another long-deleted recording back into circulation. Originally issued in a tiny pressing, the album captures the band at their most expansive—locking into hypnotic rhythms while guitars and sax-like textures spiral into exploratory jams.
Formed by Tim Wold, Agostino Soldati and Ash Bushcombe, Brown Spirits embody the restless spirit of Melbourne’s underground psych scene.
