Soft Landing Option is a new venture with entirely new acquaintances. It was the brainchild of Chris Dahlgren who, after many years being principally a bass player in New York working with the likes of Anthony Braxton, moved to Europe about 20 years ago and took up the Viola de Gamba which he plays in this trio. He had the idea of putting the group together with myself on vibes and marimba and Claudio Puntin who is an incredible clarinet player based in Berlin who has worked with Hermeto Pascoal, Fred Frith and Ensemble Modern. He plays all the clarinets from Bb down to the Bass and Contre-Alto in this project. It’s an amazing sound. We all wrote music for the trio and our first album Soft Landing Option will be out on Unit records in May.
