Municher label Public Possession returns with Chill Pill Volume VII, the latest entry in its laid-back and lightly surrealist summer series. Taking loose inspiration from early 2000s lifestyle compilations like Cafe Del Mar and Buddha Bar, the series has evolved its own flavour: slow-burn hedonism laced with subtle weirdness. Volume VII gathers familiar names and fresh faces, pairing the likes of Stockholm's Bella Boo ('Air') and French leftfield mainstay Low Jack ('Silly Games') with newer collaborations from Zellmani, Barbie Drugs and Nice Girl & Michael Kime. There's flute-flecked electronica, digital soul and low-slung lounge music - wrought and wrapped with a sly wink.
