It was under the imperturbable blue sky of a first lockdown that I finished writing the repertoire for COASTLINE , conceived as a tribute to Steve Lacy, a major artist whose music and thoughts have accompanied me since the beginning of my career as a musician. Rather than a program based on his works, I opted for a suite of personal compositions written with him in mind, writing towards him. It is the least I can do to salute this immense musician with such a singular career, whose work, thoughts, and sound have nourished me for many years. On the shore of childhood, the face of Steve Lacy emerges.
