About

This album contains two different orchestral works: ‘Concerto for Trombone and Jazz Orchestra’ and ‘Concerto for Jazz Orchestra’. Both works, composed by conductor Joan Reinders, interweave jazz with classical influences.

In the 1st ‘‘Concerto’ trombonist Mark Nightingale (UK) plays a leading role. Mark is a multiple winner of a British Jazz Award as best trombonist and has worked with legendary names in the world of jazz and pop music, such as Ray Brown, Scott Hamilton, Slide Hampton, Leo Konitz, Cleo Laine, Frank Sinatra, Kenny Wheeler, Steely Dan, Tom Jones, Sting, Henry Mancini and Michel Legrand.

The 2nd ‘Concerto’ gives ample space to soloists from the orchestra in a work inspired by Béla Bartók's 'Concerto for Orchestra'.
