Born in Varna on the Black Sea, Alexandrina Simeon has set up her musical base in Augsburg. From there, she and her top-class quintet set out to take Europe's stages by storm. While her Bulgarian roots are clearly evident on her previous albums "Roots & Influence" (2010) and "Ocean Tales" (2018), she presents a completely different side of herself on her new album "Quiet Girl." They entered the studio with rough sketches and created most of the material there through interaction, intuition, and craftsmanship. With us, too, the spontaneous interplay of the band members was the focus. In doing so, we offer a counter-model to the trend toward elaborate and complexly arranged jazz compositions."
