The new album ‘Girl Missing’ is Albertine’s most accomplished to date. Over the course of two winters in her Marzahn (East Berlin) studio, she meticulously curated, recorded, and reimagined her ideas. It’s a biography of a special love and explores an understanding of loss through the lens of sisterhood.

Vulnerability and longing are at its centre, whilst interspersed with moments of explosive joy such as the recent single ‘Stand Near Your Fire’. The album was pieced together over a few Berlin winters with Albertine crafting and reinterpreting songs as they made sense in this new context.. ‘Girl Missing’ is a record that is cathartic and therapeutic, a unique piece of art that covers a huge range of emotions and ideas - nostalgia, melancholy, joy and more. And asks the question, ‘who is the missing girl?’

It is musically adventurous with layers of organs, flutes and choirs combining to create a soulful atmosphere, and lyrically ‘Girl Missing’ incorporates quotes from cultural icons like Anthony Bourdain, David Attenborough, A.C. Marias, and Anne Carson. The result is an intriguing, career-defining record that is unlike anything else.
