Since their concert debut in July 2000, The Oxford Waits have quickly established a reputation as one of England's top costume bands, providing vibrant entertainment at folk and early music festivals alike. They have also participated in a half hour radio program, 'Britain's Town Waits' on BBC Radio 4. The band's first album "Hey for Christmas" received rave reviews and Switter Swatter is bound to receive similar acclaim. Here is an exuberant romp through the 17th. Century tradition, with a repertoire that extends from bawdy street ballads to Playford dances and Purcell rounds. Superb singing voices are matched by instrumentation that includes lute, fiddle, smallpipes, pipe and tabor, shawn, orpharion and hurdy-gurdy. A generous offering of over 60 minutes playing time covering 29 tracks.
