Tom Ze is considered the most iconic voice of all Tropicalistas - Brazil's artistic movement that arose in the late 1960s. He came from Bahia, but his wry urban poetry, infused with the sounds of the largest metropolis of South America, is pure Sao Paulo.

Five of the songs from this album were in included on Brazil Classics (Vol.40 - The Best of Tom Ze, compiled by David Byrne and released on Luaka Bop in 1990.
