About
The members of the legendary original 1990s Joshua Redman Quartet - Redman (saxophone), Brad Mehldau (piano), Christian McBride (bass), and Brian Blade (drums) - reunited after 26 years for 2020's RoundAgain; they return now with LongGone, featuring six original songs by Redman.
RoundAgain, the group's first recording since 1994's MoodSwing, debuted at No. 1 on the Current Traditional Jazz Albums chart in the US and at No. 1 on the Jazz & Blues chart in the UK. The album received two Grammy nominations. NPR called it "a flawless effort, " stating that the four musicians have "only gotten better in that time" and are each "at the very top of his game now."

Reuniting for LongGone, the years fall away as the timeless music they make together falls back into place..Redman still leads from the front, providing six straightahead original numbers for his sidemen to revel in...Everyone finally lets go completely on ‘Rejoice’, a bustling 12-minute live jam animated by McBride’s vamping.
September 2022
Most of LongGone feels deeply organic, with Redman and his bandmates feeding off each other and working to build something cohesive and bigger than their individual contributions.
October 2022
Long Gone is the latest chapter in their very occasional story, this time with all six tracks being composed by Redman himself. The tunes present an intriguing (even perplexing) contrast - being a selection of five elegant pieces mostly sprung off classic standard-song designs, plus one closing, hookily cryptic 12-minute take from a live show that reveals the power they unleash when the tunes barely matter and the gloves are off.
November 2022
The group’s sensitivity to shared musical space is unmistakable on cuts like “LongGone,” the happy title track, as Redman solos peripatetically against Mehldau’s flawless comping, or on “Disco Ears,” as Blade and McBride lock into a relentless synchronization.
