John Minnock's new album is Herring Cove. On his Third release as leader and debut on Dot Time, Minnock pairs his signature tell-it-like-it-is wit with introspective lyrics to paint a dynamic and compelling portrait of contemporary gay life.

Herring Cove, named after the eponymous beach, located in Provincetown, RI, features 6 original tracks that illustrate a tapestry of gay experiences. Minnock also reimagines two carefully chosen standards, 2 songs by the iconic David Shire (of which one was specially commissioned for this album) and an anthem by non-other than Cher!

On Herring Cove, Minnock offers a much needed an oft-overlooked perspective to the jazz audiences. My hope is to musically express myself with honesty and integrity; something I feel can be done best in a jazz setting. I hope that this new project offers listeners a greater understanding of the LGBT community, and most importantly, that they like what they hear!
