About

From Eastern lilt to Western swing, all are perfectly packaged in this remarkable album. Saxophonist Lenny Sendersky, originally from St. Petersburg, lived in Scandinavia for several years and now resides Israel. His music stems from a deep-rooted wish to promote a coming together of the social and geographical differences he's encountered on his travels as a musician and composer.

Genre styles on the album range from Middle Eastern folk and Klezmer to modern jazz and rock. It's a delightful blend played with the utmost sincerity by a line up consisting of the string quintet Moon Strings, plus internationally renowned French horn virtuoso Arkady Shilkloper, the fabulous Oshy Daban on vocals, and bass maestro, Ehud Ettun.

The title track 'Blues Mizrahi' typifies the range of material on the album, a composition that conjures up imagery of a snake charmer or belly dancers as Lenny's soprano sax states the opening theme. That and other highly original material also blends perfectly with three fascinatingly arranged standards, Dave Brubeck's 'Take Five' (Paul Desmond), Duke Ellington's 'In A Sentimental Mood', and a rip-roaring arrangement of George Gershwin's 'I Got Rhythm'.

Personnel: Lenny Sendersky (alto & soprano saxophones, flute, vocal), Ehud Ettun (bass), Arkady Shilkloper (French horn), Oshy Daban (vocal), Moon Strings
