December 2019
This post-everything, horn-fronted American group’s ninth album Chapters may be the only item in the category of skronk-prog (skrog?), veering between crashing and blaring and scrupulously assembled arts-lab compositions embracing tricky time signatures and emotive but meticulous vocals…Distractingly but not unpleasantly odd.

A band can both downsize and double down. This is very much a Kneebody record. But particularly compelling moments come when the quartet engages with a guest vocalist, opening up space in the gridwork for a human voice.
