This excellent 2CD showcases Nigel Price's Organ Trio, winners of the 2010 Parliamentary Jazz Award for "Best Jazz Ensemble". In addition to the leader on guitar, the CD features Pete Whittaker on Hammond and Matt Home on drums together with the talents of saxophonist Alex Garnett and (on two tracks) conguero Snowboy.

'Heads & Tales' introduces a novel concept: disc one features the Organ Trio pus guests playing "heads" (i.e. new melodies written over existing standard forms) and a second presents the same tunes, as originally composed, performed on double tracked guitar.

Nigel is best known for his three year stint in leading jazz funk band, The James Taylor Quartet, but his jazz playing interests are wide, ranging from "the Blue Note sound" of The Filthy Six to the cooler feel of the Matt Wates Trio.
