About

Karachi born guitar player, composer and producer Azhar Kamal presents his project: 'Folk Jazz Explosion'. Kamal born in Karachi grew up in London where he played gigs with a.o. Jamiroquai, Bobby Womack, Keziah Jones, Roachford. Since 1995 he lives in Munich where he performed with Roberto DiGioia's Marsmobil, Milva, Gitte Haenning, Tom Novy, Willy Astor a.o. He works as a composer for theatre, TV and film. The music on 'Folk Jazz Explosion' is inspired by The Incredible String Band, Vashti Bunyan,Fairport Convention, Sandy Denny, Bert Jansch and Nick Drake. The title was inspired to avenge Pete Seeger's wrath about the absorption and marginalization of the Folk Scene by the mid 60's "Rock Explosion", exemplied by Bob Dylan plugging in a 1964 Fender Stratocaster at the Newport Jazz Festival. This record 'Folk Jazz Explosion' does not have single splice, overdub or corrected, technically tampered part. All performances were in one take from top to bottom. All Vocals were performed live and expression was favoured over perfection.
