About
The Grammy winning folk duo return with the follow up to their self–titled debut collaboration. Echo in the Valley has 11 songs, the majority are original tunes and there are a few wildly reimagined traditional ones. In the way that Abigail and Béla both have used the banjo as a bridge between cultures, this record bridges traditional Appalachian tunes with original songs that address relevant topics in today's world. Like their self-titled debut which took the Grammy for Best Folk Album, this record also has wild limitations that create some magic: all sounds must be made by only the two of them; the only instruments used are banjos (they have seven between them); and they must be able to perform every recorded song live and Béla & Abby only play two banjos on every track. Béla Fleck holds the record for many Grammy awards won in varying categories than any other artist in history.

Echo In The Valley is to bluegrass as Charlie Parker was to New Orleans in the ’20s: respectful of its roots, untethered in its ambitions and triumphant in bringing it all together. With nothing more than a couple of banjos, Béla Fleck and Abigail Washburn have pulled off something close to miraculous with Echo In The Valley.
