Downchild celebrates its 40th anniversary with a new album 'I Need A Hat', a collection of new original songs which pay tribute to Downchild's pioneering of the Canadian Blues scene. The album includes some of the biggest names in Blues including film star and member of the world famous Blues Brothers, Dan Aykroyd- playing harmonica, long time friend of Downchild claims that Downchild was the inspiration behind the Blues Brothers. Wayne Jackson of the Memphis Horns also joins the cast of stellar musicians on trumpet, and Canada's own blues-rockers Colin James and Colin Linden on guitars. Donnie "Mr. Downchild" Walsh has also taken a new approach to the lyrical direction to the album – commenting on world issues and hard economic times. Downchild has become a Canadian blues institution that is well–respected internationally.
