The first release in a new budget series charting a specific band's output in a particular year. This one features Chris Barber's Jazz Band, plus The Lonnie Donegan Skiffle Group and singer Ottilie Patterson. This release features the first LP releases on the Pye Nixa 'Jazz Today' series. Skiffle had been a feature of the band's programme and, although Lonnie Donegan was a few months away from his own chart success, he was popular with the fans. Monty Sunshine, the band's clarinettist, who was to give the band its first hit in 1959, features on a couple of tracks here. This release also features two previously unreleased tracks by Ottilie Patterson plus a film soundtrack which is also previously unreleased.
