About
One of the legendary vocalists of the post-war era has his centenary in April 2019. To mark the occasion, Retrospect celebrates the artistry of Luigi Francisco Varlaro, otherwise “Don Cornell”. This powerful purveyor of romantic ballads gained legendary status over his six decades as an entertainer. I’m Yours, Retrospective’s tribute to a fine artist, contains Don’s 28 best recordings made during his vintage years of 1942-1958. 13 top ten hits are here, including three million sellers: I’m Yours, It Isn’t Fair, and Hold My Hand which topped the British charts in 1954. For most of the 40s Don was the star vocal attraction of the Sammy Kaye Orchestra, with whom he had a string of golden hits (there are 11 on the CD: That’s My Desire, Room Full Of Roses . . .), before going solo in the 50s and enjoying continued success.
