Schlippenbach is a grandmaster of the European free jazz movement, a musician who has championed the form since its inception in the mid1960s – as well as being the leader of the Globe Unity Orchestra. In 2016, the latest version of this large group ensemble came together at the Jazzfest in Berlin, Germany for a musical celebration that would mark their half-century together as a working orchestra.
