Time and The River reunites sax legend David Sanborn with acclaimed producer & bass player Marcus Miller for a funky and groovy new recording. Featuring vocalist Randy Crawford on a classic take of ‘The Windmills of Your Mind’ and Tower of Power vocalist Larry Braggs on the funky track ‘Can’t get next to you’.

About the album: This new recording of David Sanborn is the first new collaboration in the studio with producer and bass player Marcus Miller since over 15 years. The previous collaboration of the two won a total of 5 Grammys and 7 Gold discs. Time And The River is a modern groove oriented album, with funky beats, but also beautiful ballads, in which David Sanborn can show the emotional side of his acclaimed saxophone skills.

Besides Marcus Miller the album features Roy Assaf on piano, Yotam Silberstein and Nicky Moroch on guitar, Peter Hess on soprano saxophone and alto flute, Justin Mullens on trumpet, Tim Vaughn on trombone, Ricky Peterson on hammond organ, Javier Diaz on percussion, Marcus Baylor on drums and two guest appearances by vocalists Randy Crawford and Larry Braggs.

About David Sanborn: In his three-and-a-half decade career, David Sanborn has released 25 albums, won six Grammy Awards, and has had eight Gold albums and one Platinum album. He continues to be one of the most active musicians of his genre, with annual tour dates exceeding 150. Considered as a whole, David is an artist who pushes the limits and continues to make music that challenges the mind and goes straight to the heart.

His first solo release, Taking Off in 1975 — still considered a classic — solidified his career and his 1979 release, Hideaway, became a popular hit and further propelled Dave’s ascent with the single, “Seduction” being featured in the movie American Gigolo. Veteran bass player and composer Marcus Miller joined Dave on the 1981 album, Voyeur.

The single, “All I Need Is You” won Dave his first Grammy Award for Best R&B Instrumental Performance. In 1983, Dave released the hit album Backstreet that included Luther Vandross as a featured guest vocalist. Later albums have included guest artists such as Jack DeJohnette, Bill Frisell, Charlie Haden, Wallace Roney, Kenny Barron, Christian McBride and Eric Clapton.
