On APPARITIONS guitarist Adam Rogers convenes band mates Ed Simon (piano), Scott Colley (bass) and Clarence Penn (drums), who appeared on his well-received label debut, ART OF THE INVISIBLE (Criss1223CD) and ALLEGORY (Criss1242CD). From the latter date, tenor saxophonist Chris Potter, a Criss Cross regular, returns as well. The eight originals, performed in trio, quartet and quintet configurations, span the gamut from ballad to burnout, and all members play with appropriate nuance and fire. The date will burnish Rogers' reputation as one of the jazz world's freshest voices.
