About
CARLA COOK was born and raised in Detroit where, from the age of 5, music was just a part of growing up - singing in the local choir, dancing to Motown. In her teens her interest in jazz grew and she moved to Boston, then to New York. Her time in New York has afforded her continuous opportunities to work with varied and gifted musicians - from ESP (the former Miles Davis sidemen) to the Lionel Hampton Orchestra, from George Gee & His Make Believe Ballroom Orchestra to characters in Sony Playstation games. On this Grammy nominated debut she performs classic standards (These Foolish Things) and classic rock and soul numbers (Heart Of Gold, Inner City Blues) with fantastic flair and an awesome band. With CYRUS CHESTNUT (keyboards), REGINA CARTER (violin), ANDY MILNE (piano), KENNY DAVIS (bass), DARRYL HALL(bass), BILLY KILSON (drums), GEORGE GRAY (drums), JEFFREY HAYNES (percussion).
