Most of the works on this album by the Lars Jansson Trio are new compositions. All the songs are dedicated to family members, friends, and musicians, but most of all the victims of the 2011 Japanese tsunami. The title of the album is based on Koan, a method of questions and answers to evaluate a monk’s state of spirituality, used in the Zen Rinzai sect of Buddhism.
