After her studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm Karin Hammar has been a freelance musician since 1997. She has worked with most of the professional big bands in Sweden such as Magnus Lindgren Paradise Open, Hector Bingert’s Latin Lover Big Band and Stockholm Jazz Orchestra. Apart from playing jazz Karin Hammar also likes to play salsa, pop and many other kinds of music. She has played together with many of the greatest artists in Sweden, Marie Fredriksson (member of Roxette), the jazz singer Viktoria Tolstoy, trombone player Nils Landgren a.o.

In spring 2004 Karin Hammar was awarded the first prestigous Alice Babs Prize. On her debut CD for Prophone Karin Hammar plays own compositions and the lovely Michel Legrand tune "I Will Wait For You".
